Xavi Hernandez is a Spanish professional footballer who currently plays as a central midfielder for Qatari club Al Sadd, and has previously played for FC Barcelona and the Spanish national team. Born to a professional first division football player, Xavi Hernandez learned the team ethos at Barcelona's youth academy, La Masia, from the age of eleven. Xavi Hernandez went on to help Barcelona win many titles, including eight La Liga and four Champions League titles. Xavi Hernandez is the first Barcelona player to play 150 international matches. As part of the Spanish youth team, Xavi Hernandez won the U-20 World Cup in 1999, and also won the Olympic Silver Medal at the 2000 Olympics.

Xavier Hernández Creus was born on January 25, 1980, in Terrassa, Barcelona, Spain. His father, Joaquim, is a former professional footballer who played for Sabadell in the first division.
